Bud's Dream
Developing interactive light, digital media, and kinetic sculpture installation project (2023-)
Bud's Dream is an interactive light, kinetic sculpture, and digital media installation in development.
It presents a dim room that visitors can enter. Their presence is detected by various sensors, and light, sound, and motion elements react to their presence, movement, and noises they make. This reaction is subtle at first, but grows to have a personality, guided by the visitors' movements and sounds, but also by the system's own machine learning algorithm. Tools used: xbox connect to get an IR image of visitor, Max/MSP/Jitter platform to process image data, control of light data (RGB and brightness) through Arduino to NeoPixel lights (https://www.adafruit.com/product/1734), developing machine learning/behavior in Wekinator. Also in earlier versions: servo motors, fabric, wood, video projector.
