We received a generous grant from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts to help fund the season. Our call for scores (which closed Aug 1st) received over 400 SUBMISSIONS! Kirsten and I more than lucky for the response and support we've gotten for our second season. I plan to focus on the both the performance and related artwork (2D art, costumes, video) of Providence-based performance and multim [...] ]]></description><content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">I've recently been asked to curate two gallery shows in the fall and spring that I am really excited about.<br /><br />First is at the <a href="http://web.uri.edu/art/gallery/" target="_blank">University of Rhode Island Art Gallery</a> and will take place in Nov./Dec. of this year. I was asked by colleague and gallery directory <a href="http://bobdilworth.com/" target="_blank">Prof. Bob Dilworth</a> to curate a show that focuses on performance and time-based media from Rhode Island artists. I plan to focus on the both the performance and related artwork (2D art, costumes, video) of Providence-based performance and multimedia artists. &nbsp;<br /><br />I have also been asked by Jasmine Higgins, curator of lectures and performances at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, to curate a performance next May for their <a href="http://www.mfa.org/programs/series/nancy-lee-clark-concert-series" target="_blank">Sound Bites </a>series. The show really went well. I'll include a documentation from that performance with the video soon, but here's a mock up I made using a performance from another performance of this beautiful Feldman piece. TOC members also found time to work and perform at the Franciscan Center free kitchen and homeless services center, make some friends, see some sites, eat some crabs, and have a great time! Here are some pics, and video of our performance at the NMG on the "Building Communities" panel. The festival is  called Verdant Vibes, and will include a call for scores/new music from  RI-based artists.
